The America-Israel Friendship League (AIFL) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel and the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) hosted its 17th delegation of attorneys general to Israel. This year’s delegation was led by newly elected NAAG President, Derek Schmidt, Attorney General of Kansas and accompanied by Hon. Robert Abrams, former Attorney General of New York and AIFL Vice President and Leadership Delegations Committee Chair.
This year’s delegation traveled to Israel from May 23 – 30, 2017 and was comprised of the following bi-partisan group of seven attorneys general from across the United States:

AG Warren Kenneth Paxton, Jr. – Texas
AG Doug Peterson – Nebraska
AG Curtis Hill – Indiana
AG Sean D. Reyes – Utah
AG Peter Kilmartin – Rhode Island
AG Leslie Rutledge – Arkansas
The delegation enjoyed tours to traditional significant Christian and Jewish sites including the Primacy of Peter, the Via Dolorosa and Yad Vashem. They visited The Yitzhak Rabin Center which explores the history and development of the modern State of Israel. They met with Ayelet Shaked, Israel’s Minister of Justice and discussed security issues including cybersecurity, the rise of international terrorism, human trafficking as well as keeping Israel’s borders secure. The delegation also visited the historically significant Tel Saki Site at the Golan Heights which currently serves as front line observation position of the IDF near the present Israeli held Golan Heights and Syrian border, where battles are taking place between the Syrian Army and ISIS.
The group also toured the Supreme Court and participated in briefings at the Ministry Of Foreign Affairs with Deputy Attorney General, Dr. Roy S. Schöndorf and, former Israeli Ambassador to the US, M.K. Dr. Michael Oren, Deputy Minister for Diplomacy in the Prime Minister’s.
