The AIFL Law Review Editors Delegation to Israel: August 21 –27, 2016

Following the success of our 2015 program, the America-Israel Friendship League (AIFL), in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, organized a seven-day study tour in Israel for leading Law Review Editors. The delegation gained great insight into the inner workings of Israeli democracy and its legal system with briefings and discussions on the topics on national security, cyber security, law and international law. Top expert’s addressing the group included: Prof. Boaz Ganor, Founder and Executive Director of the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) and Prof. Aharon Barak, President (Ret.) of the Supreme Court of Israel. Each of the 16 participants is an outstanding law review editor from the following major universities from across the country:  UC Berkeley  University of Pennsylvania  Northwestern University  Tulane Law Review  Yale University  Georgetown University  Boston College  New York University Their specially designed itinerary arrange for them meetings with: Israeli Supreme Court Justices; senior officials at the Attorney General’s office; officials at the Legal Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; members of the Knesset and leading Israeli legal minds in academia. They also experienced a number of cultural activities, which included Shabbat Dinner with Lone Soldiers (members of the IDF who have no families in Israel) at the Jerusalem Great Synagogue and visits to, Yad Vashem.
