The America-Israel Friendship League Mourns the loss of our dear friend, colleague, longtime Treasurer and member of the board, Ira J. Greenblatt.

Ira was a graduate of Cornell University and New York University School of Law. After serving in the Army, he practiced law as a partner at the firm of Tenzer Greenblatt Fallon and Kaplan for approximately twenty years. He then became Executive Vice President of The HIG Corporation which owned and operated cemeteries and other real estate. He has also served as director of a major Israeli company. In addition to other philanthropic services, Ira served as President and then Chairman of the Board of the Brandeis School, a Hebrew Day School affiliated with the Solomon Schechter movement. One of his favorite programs at the America-Israel Friendship League was the Youth Ambassador Student Exchange (YASE). Every year, he would greatly contribute to the success of the program, both financially, and with his leadership.
Ira Greenblatt's passing is a loss to AIFL and to the entire Jewish community. His interest in Jewish activities and events served as a great support for the mission of the AIFL. Ira was a part of AIFL for many years and his enthusiasm, loyalty, charm and determination contributed materially to AIFL's mission of making friends in America for the State of Israel. Kenneth J. Bialkin, Chairman “He was a good and decent man who led a meaningful life. As law partner of Hon. Herbert Tenzer who founded AIFL he had a long association with our organization and served as its dedicated Treasurer. His friendship and wise counsel will be sorely missed.”

Hon. Robert Abrams, Vice President, AIFL Former New York State Attorney General
